It’s been a hectic week, but we managed to launch our Genesis Collections to the world. It was encouraging that we received a lot of very positive feedback following some news articles and interviews Graham did. And, in the few days since Friday, we’ve already learned a lot about the practicalities of a project like ours, including about some things that did not work as we had expected them to.
As we’ve been adamant that, as a conservation initiative, we must run our NFTs on an energy-efficient blockchain (Polygon in our case), that has created some added complexity for people wanting to support the project and purchase one or more NFTs. But we do not want to let go of this principle for reasons of expediency. We are working hard to make the process easier while remaining on Polygon and will roll out several improvements in the coming days.
In order to make sure that those who want to get their NFTs don’t miss out and to gain further insights into how to make this as easy as possible, we’ve decided to not close the ‘minting window’ for the time being. This means that tomorrow and for a while longer it will still be possible to mint your own WildEarth animal NFT.
A key issue that was identified was that acquiring MATIC, the currency used on Polygon required quite a bit of effort and many steps. This is the first hurdle we want to try and clear by also allowing the purchase of NFTs directly with a Credit Card or through PayPal. When doing so, a valid Polygon wallet address still needs to be provided, but it is not necessary to first get MATIC currency. Once the purchase is complete, the NFT will be delivered to your wallet within 24 hours for now. In the coming days, this time will reduce to 10 – 15 minutes from purchase. The option to purchase our NFTs with your credit card or through PayPal is available on the wildearth.tv/nft page by clicking on the ‘Mint now’ button on the right side of the screen.
As we have in the past, we like to work our way through challenges together with you, the WildEarth community. So, please do let us know your thoughts, concerns, challenges or suggestions at support+
