She'd had more than her fair share of escapes, including when she was attacked by one of the Avoca Males in November of 2018 close to the den area. including In August of 2019 she was seen with a badly injured elbow areas around Gowrie Dam. After she healed she returned to the den in early 2020, but by then Ribbon, a lower ranked female, Over time Corky has been clawing back some of her lost power and as of early November 2021, it looks like she might be getting close to regaining the matriarch position in the clan.     Hukumuri, known for his penchant for hunting warthogs and resting on termite mounds, came into the Sabi Sands in 2017. He ended up going blind in his right eye due to a hunting accident, or a fight with another leopard. He managed to withstand the increasing pressure from other leopards trying to usurp his territory for quite some time but, eventually, his injury and age forced him to concede and move away. Unfortunately, this pushed him to and beyond the edges of the Sabi Sands and he lost his life in January of 2021 after he started to pose a danger to people living in a nearby village.     Karula, meaning peace, was also affectionately known as the Queen of Djuma during her lifetime. She was born in 2004 as the daughter of Safari and, most likely, Mufufunyane. Karula was well-known for being an excellent mother and beating the odds to successfully raise multiple litters of cubs to adulthood. With her calm and relaxed demeanour, she was a favourite of viewers and guests alike. She suddenly disappeared in March of 2017, leaving behind her last two cubs, Hosana and Xongile, to survive on their own. Max Supply: 300

    Born in March of 2020 to Thandi, Maribye (pronounced Marieps) caused a lot of commotion and concern after catching and killing a puff adder during a LIVE safari in July of 2021 as he sufered a bite from this highly venomous snake in the process. Keeping everyone on tenterhooks for the days following the incident, he proved the strength and resilience of wild cats by fully recovering within less than a week. He showed no lasting effects as shortly afterwards he went after a large monitor lizard and pulled it out of a termite mound. Max Supply: 1200

    This lion was born in late 2015 to one of the older Mhangeni females and sired by one of the Majingilane males. He, two siblings and 9 other sub-adults from the Mhangeni Pride were forced into early independence by the pride wehich marked the start of a tough journey through life. This male and a brother/cousin first showed up near the Nkuhuma Pride around September of 2018 with a bad case of mange. The two followed the Nkuhumas around for ometime after which his brother/cousin disappeared. Over time ther Mhangeni was accepted by part of the Nkuhuma pride and formed a bond with a young Nkuhuma male, a younger lioness and the oldest female known as Nana. He did recover from the mange and following this did well and was seen moving around the Sabi Sands with others for a while. Unfortunately, he was found dead in November of 2019.     Mohawk was the third of the three males who made Djuma their territory in the first qurter of 2018, coming down from the Timbavati area as the resident males of Djuma oved south and left a vacuum. He got his nickname because of a mane that did not fully fill out and shows a spike/mohawk area in the middle.He and his two male companions, Blondie and Dark Mane, fathered several cubs with the Talamati and Nkuhuma females in 2019. No one knows what happened to her as a cub, but she was seen one day trying to follow her mother and the rest of the pride,.dragging her hind legs, and unable to walk. With the help of her mother and with the pride taking care of her, she managed to overcome this injury and while she still walks with a bit of a limp with her hip, and has the end of her tail missing, she has ended up doing quite well given her difficult start in life.. In July of 2020, Swazi was seen on the Djuma dam cam with a wire or snare loosely hanging around his neck.
