Sample Itinerary

Day 1 – November 2nd

In Hoedspruit, you will meet up with Tristan and Steve and there will be time for a quick shopping trip to get your drinks of choice and any essentials you might have forgotten to pack, before your transfer to Djuma.

Once in Djuma, you will be shown to your room and have some time to settle in before tea and coffee on the Vuyatela deck, your first game drive with your hosts and maybe already seeing some of the famous WildEarth characters.

After your drive, the crew-on-site will meet you on the Vuyatela deck for drinks and dinner, while you enjoy the sights and sounds of Gowrie Pan and waterhole. .

After dinner, the time will have come to return to your room and fall asleep to the night sounds of Djuma.

Day 2 – November 3rd

After a good night’s sleep, the day starts bright and early with tea and coffee on the Vuyatela deck. Then it’s time to head out on a morning safari with your hosts and maybe meet some of the cats you know and love so much.

Afterwards, you will have a sumptuous breakfast and then it’s time to relax, check your pictures, discuss the first day’s adventures –  or just catch up on some sleep – in preparation for afternoon tea and safari.

The afternoon safari will end at the Djuma bush braai site to round off the day with a typical South African meal, a proper ‘braai’.

Day 3 – November 4th

After the morning game drive and breakfast, you will leave the Sabi Sands briefly for a visit to one or more of the projects supported by the WildEarth Kids program. A unique opportunity to see first-hand the difference the WildEarth viewing community is making.

You will return for lunch and some early afternoon relaxation and soon enough it will be time for tea at the Vuyatela deck and the afternoon game drive.

Dinner tonight will be Shangaan style and include a performance by Shangaan dancers.

Day 4 – November 5th

By now you’ll probably have slid into the rhythm of morning and afternoon drives with one of your hosts, bookended by breakfast, teas, and dinner as well as a special daytime activity.

For today’s activity, you will get the opportunity to go on a bush walk with one of Djuma’s highly experienced guides. They will regale you with their knowledge of the bush and, no doubt, many entertaining stories.

Lunch will then make sure the appetite you will have worked up is taken care of and after some time to catch your breath, it will be time for tea and the afternoon drive again.

Dinner tonight will allow you to discuss the events of the days with your hosts before heading of for a night of peaceful sleep.

Day 5 – November 6th

After a good night’s sleep, the day starts bright and early with tea and coffee on the Vuyatela deck. Then it’s off to the WildEarth camp to meet some of the crew as they prepare to go out on drive.

Tonight’s dinner will be Kenyan-themed in honour of the Maasai Mara. Your hosts will talk about their experiences in the Mara. Be prepared for great stories interspersed with lots of humour.

Day 6 – November 7th

After your morning safari and breakfast, You will be introduced to the tracks and signs of the bush and how these can be used to track and find animals.

Tonight’s dinner theme will be South African and this will include some local wine tasting.

Day 7 – November 8th

Time flies and this will be your final full day at Djuma. After the morning drive and breakfast it’s therefore high time for another bushwalk and an opportunity to show off your newly acquired knowledge of tracks and signs!

After returning from the afternoon drive, you are invited to a special Goodbye Party to look back on the many great moments of the past week.

Day 8 – November 9th

All good things must come to an end, so after a final morning game drive and breakfast it’s time to pack your bags and leave Djuma behind to either start the voyage back home or to your next holiday destination.

There’ll be laughter and tears on this day, but mostly a lot of looking back at funny, touching, amazing, and otherwise memorable moments of the past week.
