Itinerary

Day 1

If you are travelling through Gauteng, you will be welcomed at Johannesburg airport by James Hendry, who will be your host and accompany you on your mid-day flight to Hoedspruit. Once in Hoedspruit, there is time for a quick shopping trip to get your drinks of choice and any essentials you might have forgotten to pack, before your transfer to Djuma.

Once in Djuma, you will be shown to your room and have some time to settle in before tea and coffee on the deck, your first game drive and maybe already seeing some of the famous WildEarth characters.

After your drive, it’s time for drinks and dinner, while you enjoy the sights and sounds of the waterhole in front of Tumbeta.

After dinner, the time will have come to return to your room and fall asleep to the night sounds of Djuma.

Day 2 –

After a good night’s sleep, the day starts bright and early with tea and coffee on the deck. Then it’s time to head out on a morning safari with James and maybe meet some of the cats you know and love so much.

Afterwards, you will have a sumptuous breakfast and then it’s time to relax, check your pictures, discuss the first day’s adventures –  or just catch up on some sleep – in preparation for afternoon tea and safari.

The afternoon safari will end at the Djuma bush braai site to round off the day with a typical South African meal, a proper ‘braai’.

And tonight you might want to try out the outdoor sleeping deck to fully enjoy the sounds of nature. Of course, you’ll be protected from mozzies and other flying ‘goggas’ by a sturdy mosquito net.

Day 3

After the morning game drive and breakfast, you will leave the Sabi Sands briefly for a visit to the Dixie and Utha schools. A unique opportunity to see first-hand the difference both Djuma and the WildEarth viewing community are making.

You will return for lunch and some early afternoon relaxation, or some time in the photographic hide and soon enough it will be time for tea and the afternoon game drive.

Dinner tonight will be Shangaan style and include a performance by Shangaan dancers.

Day 4

By now you’ll probably have slid into the rhythm of morning and afternoon drives, bookended by breakfast, teas, and dinner as well as a special daytime activity.

For today’s activity, you will get the opportunity to go on a bush walk with one of Djuma’s highly experienced guides. They will regale you with their knowledge of the bush and, no doubt, many entertaining stories.

Lunch will then make sure the appetite you will have worked up is taken care of and after some time to catch your breath, it will be time for tea and the afternoon drive again.

The members of the WildEarth crew that are at Djuma will join you for dinner tonight.

Day 5

Time flies and this will be your final full day at Djuma with James. After the morning drive and breakfast it’s therefore high time for another bushwalk and an opportunity to show off your newly acquired knowledge of tracks and signs!

After returning from the afternoon drive, you are invited to a special Goodbye Party to look back on the many great moments of the trip.

Day 6

All good things must come to an end, so after a final morning game drive and breakfast it’s time to pack your bags and leave Djuma behind to either start the voyage back home or to your next holiday destination.

There’ll be laughter and tears on this day, but mostly a lot of looking back at funny, touching, amazing, and otherwise memorable moments of your safari and, no doubt, your host.
