Born to the Avoca Pride and sired by the Avoca/Giraffe Males of the Timbavati area in early to mid 2013. He first appeared with two others in the northern Sabi Sands in February/March of 2018 at Buffelshoek.Dam. As there were no other territorial males in the area at that time they quickly established themselves as the dominant males. The three of them started mating with the Talamati and Nkuhuma Prides soon after and cubs were born in early to mid 2019 with both prides. Aside from the dar mane that gave him his name, Dark Mane can be recognised by a distinctive limp. This limp stems from an injury to his right leg he sustained while taking down a buffalo with Nkuhuma Pride.
